IGREJA BATISTA JARDIM BRASIL.

Muitas pessoas participaram do vídeo.

Seja Deus engrandecido!

  1. I first met Pr. Josue Nunes de Lima in 1990 as part of the voluntary missionary group, Good News Partnership Missions. He was not feeling well on the night of consagration in Igreja Batista Boas Novas, em Jardim Brasil, with Pr. Joel Barbosa. I and my partner Larry Newsom were met by Pr. Josue's brother Flavio Nunes de Lima and two of our drivers for the week, Sabastao Bastos and Dorcilo Bortolo. We enjoyed the service and singing and were excited to begin the work in Igreja Batista Jardim Brasil the next morning. During the week Pr. Josue was feeling better and was always available for our questions and the plan for the week of services and visitations in homes. Our week was packed full of challenges and celebration of souls accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior. Pr. Josue made sure that we were able to know the area of Jardim Brasil and the other churches that were a part of our mission. Igreja Batista Boas Novas was a filho church of Jardim Brasil and as I found out Jardim Brasil was a very active mission minded church. I began to correspond with members that I had met on our visit and was kept informed of how the church was being active.

I remained in the voluntary mission program for 7 years, visiting a number of churches in various areas of Sao Paulo. My second year in the program I was assigned to a mission of Jardim Brasil in Vila Carmela. Pr. Humberto was a gracious host and made it possible to come back to Jardim Brasil on our final night to join in the celebration of the weeks work.

Pr. Josue made it official by making Larry Newsom and Ronnie Brown and I honorary members of Jardim Brasil Baptist Church. I still have the plaque that was given to me on that night. Jardim was celebrating 30 years of ministry in Jardim Brasil.

Each year I came back and tried to visit with members that I had corresponded with and was able to fellowship as much as possible. In 1994 my wife of 25 years passed away and I didn't come on mission that year. I felt a great love for Pr. Josue and Albertina and they always opened there home to me for a visit. In 1997 I decided to try construction mission and made my way to Maceio, AL and to a small town in the interior 3 hours drive called Ibatequara. While I was there Larry Newsom and his wife were in Jardim Brasil once again and went our with Pr Josue's niece Ideli Marques Dimas. Pr Josue pursuaded her to write me a letter. She was unmarried and so she complied and wrote the letter. I met Larry Newsom's wife in a grocery store at home and she told me that she had a letter for me. I read it began writing to Ideli and then telephoning and then she took her holidays in the USA and stayed with a friend of mine from my church. That week I proposed to her and a few month later we were married. I became Nephew to Pr. Josue and Albertina. What a strange and exciting course of events. I visited Jardim Brasil every year as we took our vacation to see family. Pr Josue always arranged for me to speak and one of the missions of Jardim Brasil. I was amazed at the dedication, love, and fortitude of this wonderful pastor. He loved God, Family, Church but most of all the mission of reaching the lost.

I loved him and miss him greatly
